Yea for Wednesday! And, yea for long weekends! And, if I can ever make it through the next couple of days with all the craziness at work, I will be on my way to a fun Labor Day celebration! Here are a few of the things I'm loving these days:
1. Nike Tempo Running Shorts!
I just got my first pair of these babies this weekend, and I am seriously in love! They are comfortable, they are stylish, and they don't ride up when I run! In one word...they are amazing!
2. That Zoey gets to take her first road trip this weekend! She, Patrick and I are heading to Knoxville for the weekend to catch up with my family and also to attend our friend, Zach's 30th birthday party! It will definitely be a fun weekend!
3. Sips 'n Strokes -- After a very long hiatus from painting my own pictures, I decided to give it another try last night! I had forgotten how much fun it was...and so relaxing! Tune in this weekend for a pic of my masterpiece in my Project 365 post.
4. That this weekend begins the season that all people from East Tennessee LIVE for! That's right ladies and gentleman...as of Saturday evening, it's FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!!!!! Go big ORANGE!
Another weekend has come and gone...why must they all go by so fast? At least that means I'm having fun, right?
Friday night, was a night of relaxation and chores around the house. Then Saturday morning, I was up pretty early to do more of the same. Saturday afternoon, I headed to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to volunteer with the Nashville Junior Chamber! We were assigned to the cooler to sort food that was donated from various grocery stores around town. It was a lot of fun, and surprisingly the cold didn't bother me too badly...It was actually one of the best volunteer experiences I have ever had, and I REALLY want to do it again! Here are a few pics that Laura, the NJC's resident photographer, took at the event:
Sorting fruit and looking for any that need to be tossed!
Taking a break with the girls!
Look, I found a Barbie Princess Cake!
After rushing home and getting ready, I headed to my beau's house to help him set up for the get together he was having that night. When Patrick and I first started dating, he had parties all the time! His parties are always tons of fun, and the food is always delicious. Over time, things got busy and we realized a few weeks ago, that there hasn't been a party at the Sizzle Shack in quite some time. So glad he decided to put this little shindig together. It was great hanging out with all our friends. I think Zoey enjoyed the festivities, too...she was sooooooo tired at the end of the party though...it was pretty pitiful. Again, here are a few pics of the night:
So glad Kristen came...I haven't hung out with her in forever!
So glad Alysia is feeling better and was able to come!
Another pic of the gang!
Timmy LOVED holding Zoey...I think he thought she was a cat. =)
Me and Lindy!
Me and Missy!
Sunday was a pretty low maintenance kinda day...I slept in, hung out with Patrick and Zoey, ate the breakfast that my beau fixed me, ran a couple errands (that included a much needed pedicure), and playing kickball (yeah, we lost...bummer)! It was a fun day and a great way to end the weekend.
One thing I did accomplish this weekend was recording Sweet Zoey doing her new trick...take a look:
So, after I returned from visiting my sister, I totally forgot that I had accomplished not just one, but 2 items on my 101 Things list! Number 6 was to take a trip with my mom and sister and number 34 was to visit my sister in South Carolina...well, wouldn't you know, I was able to kill 2 birds with one stone and knock both of those suckers out in the same trip! Which, after the amount of fun we had on this trip, I almost wish we hadn't done them both in the same trip!
I know I told everyone how much fun we had on this trip, but I really don't think I can adequately put it into words! It's amazing to me how much my sister is growing up and how close she is to being a hard working young professional. It's also amazing to me how my mother becomes a better parent with each year, and she makes the whole thing look so easy! We had a wonderful trip and I REEEEAAAALLLY hope we get to do it again next summer!
I actually can't believe it's already Wednesday! This week is FLYING by; maybe that has something to do with all the things I'm loving this week:
1. That Zoey is currently at her first day of Doggy Daycare even as you read this. I know, I know, it's a little silly to send a dog to daycare...but she just seems so pitiful being in her crate all day, so we want to do something special for her 2-3 times per month.
2. That this weekend, Patrick is having a party! He throws the best parties, and he hasn't had a party in a long time! I'm sure Saturday will be stressful, but I am really looking forward to it!
3. That I was able to pick up both Chris Johnson and Matt Hasselbeck (2 of the Tennessee Titans) in my Fantasy Football Draft last night! Here's to a great season!
4. Most Eligible Dallas -- Have you seen this show? It's fascinating! I find Dallas fascinating anyway, but this show is the definition of vein! Absolutely will be added to my DVR list!
5. And finally...this guy and girl!
Head over to Jamie's blog and tell us what you are loving!
The Nashville Farmer's Market is a pretty popular place in Nashville during the summer months. I've always wanted to head down there and buy some fresh fruits and veggies, but just never have taken the time. Fortunately, on the 3rd Friday of every month, they have what's called the Night Market. Not only are all of the farmers selling produce and all of the restaurants open, but there are also lots of specialty shops available, live music, and even wine. Because my beau and I hadn't had a date night lately, we decided to check it out. We were definitely NOT disappointed! Not only did we get TONS of fresh tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, potatoes, apples and watermelon, but we also really enjoyed walking around, drinking a glass or 2 of wine, and trying one of the many fabulous restaurants. It was so much fun! Here are a few pics as evidence:
As we were walking in...
Tomatoes are my favorite veggie...or is it a fruit?
Me and my beau!
Gotta love all the local farmers!
A cool view of downtown!
All of our loot!
After getting up early and getting a lot of things done around the house, I headed to lunch with Patrick and then to the pool. Next up, Lindy's big 3-0 celebration! All the girls headed to The Gulch to Cantina Laredo and then over to Whiskey Kitchen for a few after dinner drinks! It was a fun time to celebrate a super sweet girl!
Around midnight, the boys (who were all hanging out themselves) decided to head over and meet up with us. We all had a great time enjoying a night on the town (a rarity these days).
On Sunday, I wasn't quite as productive as I was on Saturday...In fact, I slept so late that Zoey was REEEEAAALLLY ready for me to get up around 9:00 am and take her out.
After finally pulling myself out of bed, I managed to go on a 2 mile run and then Patrick and I headed to visit Alysia! She's been a little under the weather, so it was fun to catch up with her for a little while! Oh, I almost forgot...her mom shared the best Sweet Potato Pie I have EVER eaten in my life while we were there. I think Patrick and I both scarfed down our pieces so fast we didn't know what happened!
Next up was kickball...yesterday's game didn't go so well, as we got beat 4-0. Bummer! At least we ended the evening with a delicious homemade meal provided by yours truly! It was the best Kung Pao Chicken I think I've ever eaten! Don't worry, the recipe will be coming soon! =)
That's about it from me...oh, well, except one thing! I know it's not still the weekend, but tonight Patrick and I went to Sweet Cece's for ice cream, and we felt kinda bad for Sweet Zoey, so we decided to stop by Mickey D's on the way home and get her an ice cream of her own. THIS is the result:
It was pretty hilarious...at least it was for Patrick and Me...okay, so maybe no one else enjoyed this, but it makes me smile every single time!
So, once again, I've been a terrible blogger this week. I am so amazed by how overwhelming my life can be sometimes. I love staying busy but at the same time, I wish I could have a little time to just breathe. For some reason I am constantly tired these days and never seem to be able to catch up on my rest. Anywho, despite being busy, busy, busy, I was actually able to get some rest last weekend...
Friday night, I just hung out with Ms. Zoey. Saturday morning, I was up bright and early to run in the Tomato 5K in East Nashville. I have never ran in this race, but have heard only great things about it! Therefore, Alacia and I decided to give it a shot:
It was a really fun race, but man was it hilly! I didn't think the hills would ever end! My time wasn't the greatest at 38:49, but I haven't really been training like I should, so I didn't beat myself up about it too much!
After taking quick showers and relaxing for a few minutes, Alacia and I headed back down to East Nashville with the boys and Hannah for the Tomato Arts Festival. This event is always so much fun, and dog friendly, too. Zoey was pretty happy to be spending the day with her mom and dad...despite the fact that she got kinda car sick on the way there... =( Poor girl...I don't think she'll ever get used to riding in the car. Here are a few pics from the day:
Hannah was quite the Rock Star in her sunglasses and tutu!
We had to get a picture with the dog!
This is typical attire at Tomato Fest. =)
Me and Sweet Zoey!
Patrick made me take a pic with this sign because of my obsession with ketchup!
Me and my beau!
Since all of us were completely exhausted, we headed home and took a nap in the early afternoon. Then Patrick and I decided to head to a new sushi restaurant near my house for dinner and to watch the first Titans game. The sushi was delicious and the game was also good with the Titans pulling out a victory!
Sunday was a pretty relaxing day with a lot of laying around and a little bit of pool time...oh, and we won 2 kickball games...no big deal.
I promise not to wait another week before posting THIS weekend's update. Hope you all have a great week!
I am a recent newlywed living in Nashville, TN. I work for a CPA firm as a tax manager and in my spare time love to hang out with my husband and our dog, Sweet Zoey. I have a wonderful family and friends, and always have tons of fun in life!
