Weekend Update!

It was soooooooo hard going back to work today.  Partly because I was so tired from the weekend, but also because I had so much fun for the last 3 days that I just didn't want it to end.

Friday night, I took Zoey on her first run, and she did great...if you count not knocking children over and not jumping on too many random strangers as doing great!  No really...she did really well...she stayed with me for the most part and she didn't even get sick on the car ride over or back!  (For those who don't know, our sweet little doggy has a car sickness problem...one that we are hoping and praying she grows out of!)

On Saturday morning, I was up and at 'em bright and early to get everything ready to head to the lake!  Thanks to Chase, Patrick and I headed out on the lake for a good portion of the day on Saturday.  We had a great time, complete with tubing, relaxing in the water, and soaking up some sunrays.  My sweet beau and I decided to ride on the tube together (BTW, WHAT were we thinking?).  Here are a few pics of mine and Patrick's short tubing trip:

After a busy day at the lake, it was time to head to the U2 concert that night...I'm sure none of you will be surprised to find out that going to U2 was not my idea...I barely knew any of the songs they sang, but we still had a great time!  Andi and Rob were in town from Knoxville, so it was super fun getting to spend time with them both before and after the show, not to mention U2 put on a great performance.

Even though we were up pretty late on Saturday night, we still managed to get up and head to church on Sunday morning.  It was a nice service at the same church my mom and I went to the weekend before.  I really liked it...hopefully, we'll go back!

After church and running a couple of errands, it was time to head to Gooch Beach for their annual 4th of July Pool Party.  This was the one time this weekend that I failed big time in the camera area...we had a lot of fun though, and got to see some cool fireworks at the end of the night.

After getting home, we thought Zoey needed to show off her Patriotic spirit:

I'm not sure what is so funny about dogs being dressed up, but these pictures crack me up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.  So much fun!

On Monday, me, Kat, Mickey and Kat's sister, Emily all got up bright and early to run in the 4th of July Race downtown.  Kat, Mickey, and Emily all did the 10K, but I decided to just stick to the 5K this time.  I did okay...my time was 37:03, which is my worst 5K time, yet...however, I'm not beating myself up about it too much...I mean, I hadn't trained like I should and it was HOTT!!!!!  The most exciting part of the day though, was my little group's outfits!

Yes, we are definitely wearing red, white, and blue softball socks!  And don't forget our headgear...too funny!
I think it's funny to see after pictures...we were looking TIRED!
I was also super excited because Patrick and Zoey were there to see me cross the finish line!  Patrick is always super supportive of me and my running and he comes to every race he can to cheer me on.  I had asked if he would bring Zoey and he said he wasn't sure if that was a good idea (see car sickness comment above), but he decided at the last minute to let her come...she had a great time!

After relaxing at the pool most of the afternoon, next on the agenda was my favorite portion of the weekend...for those who live in Nashville, you have probably heard of Love's Circle.  Well, there is a wonderful view of downtown up there and Nashville has one of the top 15 4th of July Fireworks shows in the country.  Therefore, my friends and I decided to head up for the evening, have a picnic, enjoy some cornhole, hang out and watch the fireworks.  When we first arrived, we practically had the whole place to ourselves...however, by 9:30 when the first firework went off, the place was so packed you couldn't move!  Good thing we got there plenty early to claim our real estate.  Here are a few pics of the festivities:
A rare glimpse of Hannah looking at the camera.  =)

She is so much fun now that she's moving around and walking everywhere!

Hannah and Zoey love each other!

Me with Ms. Abby...too freakin' cute!

The boys playing cornhole!

Ms. Lyla posing for a picture!

Tanner hung out in Lindy's lap all night long...so sweet!

Alicia and Chase are ready for the fireworks!

Zoey was settling down for the night!

Abby LOVES to play!  =)

Probably my favorite pic of Patrick and me in a long time!

Definitely my favorite pic of the night!

Nashville skyline at dusk!

How Zoey spent the entire fireworks show!
Well, sorry for the picture overload...I think the camera was out more this weekend than it has been in months!  LOVE it!

#40 -- DONE!!!!!

Over a year ago, Sandy and I decided to buy a Groupon to take a cake decorating class.  We had already decided that we would wait until the perfect festive occasion came along and then we would have the perfect excuse to show off our cakes..well, we waited and waited, then we forgot, then we waited some more.  Well, next thing you know, our groupon was about to expire...SO, we decided to head to the cake decorating class on a random Wednesday afternoon.

The class was a lot of fun!  We had a great time and really enjoyed decorating our cake with fondant.  Here is a picture of my cake:

Me with Sandy and her girls!
Definitely glad I put this one on my 101 Things list because it was F-U-N!

Simple Acts of Kindness

I was raised in church...I was raised a member of the United Methodist Church.  And, even though I don't go on a regular basis, I love the United Methodist Church...it is good for my soul!  This past Sunday when my mom was in town, she and I went to the Methodist Church close to my house.  I have been to this church a few times and I love the minister there.

This Sunday's sermon, in particular, really hit home for me.  He asked each of us if we have witnessed Simple Acts of Kindness this week.  That really got me thinking...I sometimes get so bitter and focused on what is going on in my life that I fail to notice, much less DO simple acts of kindness.  In fact, I couldn't think of a single example of such behavior in my life in the last week.  Therefore, I decided right then that whenever I find myself becoming Negative Nancy I am going to focus instead on a Simple Act of Kindness.

What Simple Acts of Kindness have you witnessed this week?

Weekend Update!

So, I can't believe I haven't posted since Wednesday!  I've been so busy the last few days, but I'm super pumped to be back at my favorite past time!

Despite the fact that my beau was out of town on a Bachelor Party weekend for the last few days, I still had a really great weekend.  Friday night, I got a brand new haircut, which was much needed and also perfect timing since I have a lot going on in the next couple of weeks.  Then, because my mom STILL did not have electricity at her house, she came to town to hang out with me and Zoey for the weekend!  She hadn't met Zoey, yet, and she was very impressed!  And Zoey was crazy about her grandmother...she pretty much followed her around all weekend!

Saturday morning, after laying around for several hours, the sun finally came out enough to head to the pool.  Thank goodness I was able to work on my tan a little bit...I needed it for my big night on the town.  Saturday night was Kathleen's Bachelorette Party, which started off with a lingerie shower:

She got lots of pretty things...

...including this Grandma friendly nightgown...I bet Mickey will LOVE this one!  Ha!
After opening all the presents, it was time to head out on the town:
The whole gang about to walk out the door!
Our first stop was Zanie's Comedy Club to see Loni Love.  She was hilarious, and pretty much UBER vulgar.  She even called Kat out and gave her a little of her own attention that night!
Alysia and I hanging out with the Bride-to-Be
After the show, it was time to head downtown:
A few of us waiting in line at The Stage!

The entire group in between dancing and singing at the top of our lungs!
After a fun evening, it was time to head home!  Sunday, after my kickball game was cancelled because of rain, I headed to church with my mom.  Then, she and I headed to do a little shopping and eat a little lunch.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing and getting ready for the work week...boo!

I hope all of you had a great weekend!

What I'm Loving Wednesdays!

So, I know it's just barely still Wednesday, but since it's not midnight, yet, I thought I'd go ahead and tell you what I'm loving this week:

1.  That this Saturday is Kathleen's Bachelorette Party!  Can't wait to hang out with the ladies and enjoy some good 'ole fashioned comedy at Zanie's Comedy Club!  Who knows, we may even hit up mine and Kat's Nashville fav, The Stage after the comedy show...It's her night, and I can't wait to see what her sister (aka the Maid of Honor) has planned!

2.  That I don't live in Knoxville tonight...apparently, there are a bizzillian people in that city without power (including my parents) and rumor has it, electricity will not be fully restored to everyone until sometime this weekend.  YIKES!

3.  That I am getting a cut and color on Friday!  I can't wait to have my look refreshed before the weekend!

4.  That I ran a mile and a half tonight without stopping!  Yea for finally overcoming my fear of running longer than a mile!

5.  This guy:
6.  And last, but not least...this doggy:

Head on over to Jamie's and tell us what you're loving!
